Students will meet with us in the morning, and then we will ask you to join us in the lobby of Maxwell Dworkin at noon. We will provide a pizza lunch (please let us know of any special dietary requests). Once you and your student have finished lunch, you have your student for the rest of the afternoon to get him/her acquainted with your research group. We suggest that you discuss the project and provide some general references, give them a brief safety orientation, get them settled into their workspace, arrange for access to the lab/building, and introduce them to other group members. Since most of you do not know your REU student yet, we have assigned tables and areas to research groups so that you can meet them at your table. We will also have nametags for the REU students and for you - please pick up a nametag at the registration table outside Maxwell Dworkin G115.
