Dear Friends of HUCE,
Hope you have had a wonderful start to the Fall 2008 semester. Please be
sure to check the HUCE calendar on our website,
www.environment.harvard.edu [
http://mcsv.net/cgi-bin/redir?MCid=AZHHPACg3kCNQ6o5sJxA ],
for the most up-to-date listings and
complete event descriptions. If you would like to submit an event to the
calendar, contact Lisa Matthews at the Center for the Environment:
lisa_matthews(a)harvard.edu [ mailto:lisa_matthews@harvard.edu ]. Feel free to distribute
this email to your
students, faculty, colleagues, and anyone else who may be interested in
environmental events around the community.
Highlights
Monday, September 22:
Be sure not to miss the President of Kiribati discuss the human dimensions
of climate change in the first of the HUCE Green Conversations lecture
series. Kiribati, a nation comprised of a group of atolls and one island in
the Pacific, are uniquely vulnerable to global-warming induced sea level
change.
Thursday, September 26: Hopi Hoekstra, Professor of Natural Sciences and
Curator of Mammals in Harvard's MCZ, discusses the many ways that color is
made, used, and perceived in "Nature's Palette: the Biological Significance
of Color."
