Dear group,
Adam Cohen's lab has a theory talk this Thursday from 5-6.
Here is the abstract:
Title: Signature of Quantum Chaos In Photon-Echo Experiment
Maksym Kryvohuz, MIT
Abstract:
A great deal of theoretical work has been devoted a decade ago to study
the
signatures of chaos in quantum systems. It has been shown that systems
with
regular dynamics possess Poisson statistics of nearest-neighbor energy
level
spacings, while systems with chaotic dynamics possess Wigner statistics.
Obtaining level statistics from experimental spectrum meets several
difficulties, thus it is interesting to find the effect of different
level
statistics on the time-domain signal. Three-pulse photon-echo experiment
is
considered, the information about spectral statistics is provided by
supressed photon echo signal in case of Wigner statistics (chaotic
motion),
which is absent in case of Poisson statistics (regular motion).
