Hi all,
The CEP will have a sub-group meeting at 3-4 today in the Div room. Tim
Hirzel will be talking about molecular generation - a subject which is of
interest to many within the group.
All welcome.
Abstract: *"Molecular generation is a key step in many Aspuru-Guzik group
projects. I will propose a software architecture based on a molecular
building blocks that can describe a variety of generation processes. I
will also describe how the design can be extended to accommodate project
specific requirements."*

Attention Undergrads:
This is a reminder that the Undergraduate School on Experimental Quantum
Information Processing (USEQIP) is a one-of-a-kind, two-week program held
at the University of Waterloo's Institute for Quantum
Computing<http://iqc.uwaterloo.ca>(IQC)from May 26
th the June 6th 2014.
If you're an undergraduate student interested in quantum information
processing who is one year away from graduation, this program is for you.
The program consists of a mixture of lectures and over 25 hours of
experimental workshops. Students of engineering, physics, chemistry,
computer science and math are welcome to apply. Following the School, we
also have summer-long research opportunities with one of our 23 faculty
members and research assistant professors.
We accept 20 students into the program. In terms of costs IQC and their
partners cover meal and housing costs. You can also apply for travel
bursaries.
For more information about the program and how to apply, visit

Dear Dr. Westervelt:
The long-running Washington, D.C. science policy immersion program returns
for the summer of 2014. Graduate students in science and engineering who
are interested in how decisions about science and innovation funding,
regulation and policy are made will benefit from this program. Students
with an interest in careers in science policy will also find this to be an
excellent opportunity to learn about important fellowship programs and meet
current science and innovation policy professionals.
For more information, please ask interested students to visit

Dear group,
Amanda Neukirch, a postdoctoral candidate, will be visiting the group
next *WEDNESDAY,
FEBRUARY 19*. She is currently finishing her Ph.D. in the group of Oleg
Prezhdo at the University of Washington.
Her research focuses on *Non-adiabatic Dynamics in Nanoscale Systems*, and
should be exciting to people interested in electronic structure, molecular
dynamics, and energy transfer (which is almost all of you!). :-)
She will be giving a talk in the Division Room from *2:00 PM to 3:00 PM*,
for which the abstract is attached to this e-mail.
In addition, she is really excited to meet with as many of you as possible
throughout the day. We have time available (in half-hour increments) from
9:30 AM to 12:00 PM.
In addition, we have a few lunch slots available from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
Please let me know ASAP if you are interested! Thank you!
