When: Friday February 25 at 11:00 AM (Just for this week, 30 min before the usual). Where: Mallinckrodt 217 What: Jacob Krich will give a talk on: "Recombination in intermediate band photovoltaics. Intermediate band photovoltaics (IBPV) hold the promise of radical improvements in photovoltaic efficiency. I will discuss the design principles of IBPV and the tradeoffs to be made with different choices of energy gaps. Full realization of IBPV's potential requires a device with a sufficiently low recombination rate. I will discuss the factors important for recombination and connect the theory of multiphonon recombination to Marcus theory.
