Jennifer -------------------------- Title: Finite Temperature Electronic Structure Abstract: I've been thinking about how to build temperature into electronic structure for quite a while, and I'm finally going to present some thoughts on how to do so. I'll start by making a few observations about uncertainty relations and temperature in many-body theory, as well as stating a few of my own results that motivated me to pursue this idea seriously. I'll then discuss how to build temperature into an arbitrary hamiltonian with known degrees of freedom, and how to make them useful for chemistry.
