The shutdown is required for service work on the building transformers (13,800 volts) and electrical switchgear. Without this service work, we would face the prospect of an unplanned emergency outage in the future. We will share additional information as this event approaches, but wanted to make you immediately aware of the following: • There will be no lighting, room ventilation, cooling, fume hood exhaust, or electricity available from wall outlets during the shutdown. • No one will be permitted to be present in Converse throughout the shutdown for life safety reasons. The CCB Facilities Department has begun contacting each of the labs that will be effected to initiate planning for this event. There will be extremely limited temporary power available for only the most critical systems (e.g. a biological sample that must be stored at -80 C). Facilities will work with each laboratory to address your critical needs.
