Dear quantum people, Jacob Biamonte formerly of D-Wave Systems and now a graduate student at Oxford starting in October will be visiting our group for this summer. He is going to give a group meeting talk that might be of interest to you. The talk will be at 11.00 AM this Thursday May, 17. Note that this is Thursday and not Friday as I advertised before. We have scheduling conflicts for Friday. The location is Room M217 (Seminar room in the second floor) of Mallinckrodt building at Harvard (12 Oxford street). The map is here. Biamonte, D-Wave Systems Inc. There has been increasing recent interest in the use of physics inspired models of quantum computation. This is due, in part, to their potential ease of physical realization which is based on the possibility of natural fault tolerance. In this talk, I will review some of these models, focusing on the adiabatic model of quantum computation as well as the measurement based models. In addition, results contained in a recent preprint (representing joint work with Peter J.
