*Title:* Optomechanical Entanglement as a Resource for Quantum Control
and Information Protocols
*Abstract: *The opto- and electro-mechanical light--matter interaction
provides the means to create entanglement between a mechanical
oscillator and an electromagnetic field. In this talk I will discuss
several quantum information and control protocols making use of this
type of entanglement as their main resource.
First, I will describe a Bell test using the Einstein--Podolski--Rosen
entangled state recently generated by Palomaki et al., which would rule
out any local and realistic explanation of the measured data without
assuming the validity of quantum mechanics at macroscopic scales.
Although challenging, the parameter regime required for our scheme has
been demonstrated or is within reach of current experiments.
In the second part, I will show how we can utilize entanglement within
the framework of time-continuous quantum control in order to engineer
the quantum state of a mechanical system. Specifically, I will analyze
the creation of bipartite mechanical entanglement via time-continuous
entanglement swapping, and preparation of a squeezed mechanical state by
time-continuous teleportation. Finally I will show an experimental
demonstration of optomechanical state estimation by Kalman filtering as
a first step towards the implementation of the analyzed protocols.
