Dear Group,
If you haven't heard already, Roberto's talk was postponed until
January. The first Theory Seminar will be presented by Heller Group
Visiting Scholar, Professor Michael Herman of Tulane University, next Monday
24 November from 4-5pm in the Division Room. We hope to have a strong
turn-out for our first joint seminar.

Abstract:
A theory of melt polymer dynamics that accounts for correlated many chain
motions is developed. It is shown that this theory reproduces the
experimentally observed molecular weight dependence of the diffusion
constant and the viscosity for linear chains and rings. Results for the
relaxation in monodisperse and bidisperse melts are also presented. The
short time, short chain motion of the polymer chains, calculated from force
field molecular dynamics, are used in the theory to predict the long time,
long chain diffusion without adjustable parameters.
Our next seminar will be presented by Dr. Jingzhi Pu of the Karplus Group on
Tue 9 Dec at 4:15pm. An announcement will be sent in early December.
Thank you!
Anna
