James Woolsey will speak about the potential transformations proceeding from innovations
in energy, including the growth of alternatives to conventional petroleum, and the impact
of these and other developments on national security. He puts special emphasis on homeland
defense and how we can make our society and economy more resilient.
Woolsey specializes in a range of alternative energy and security issues; he currently
chairs the Strategic Advisory Group of the Washington, D.C. private equity fund, Paladin
Capital Group; is a Senior Executive Advisor to the consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton;
and is Of Counsel to the Washington, D.C. office of the Boston-based law firm, Goodwin
Procter. He previously served in the U.S. Government on five different occasions, where he
held Presidential appointments in two Republican and two Democratic administrations, most
recently (1993-95) as Director of Central Intelligence. From July 2002 to March 2008
Woolsey was a Vice President and officer of Booz Allen Hamilton.
