Hello coffee fans!
I picked up some ``real'' coffee the other day---the beans are now on top in
the grinder but there were a few rounds of the old beans left. Depending on
how quickly we go through the next few cups, the new stuff should be up very
soon.
cheers!

Dear group
I need two volunteer speakers for the seminar series below.
Send all your candidacies and what you want to talk about to Anna and me by
the end of the week, and I will decide or flip a coin to see who speaks.

Dear Alan,
I am a fifth year graduate student in the Kahne lab.
Some students in the Kahne lab are starting up a departmental
student/postdoc
seminar series this fall to promote more scientific interaction between
various
research groups in CCB. The seminar series will take place every Friday
starting the week of Oct 1, during which two student/postdoc speakers will
present their work to the entire community (faculty, postdoc and students).
For the past two weeks, we have invited CCB faculty in the chemical biology
and
biophysics research areas to have their groups participate in the seminar
series. The response has been great so far. After consulting with Dan, we
have decided to extend the invitation to the rest of the CCB faculty and
their
groups.
We are writing to find out whether you and your lab would like to
participate in
the seminar series. For each semester, you will be asked to assign one
student/postdoc from your lab to give a short presentation of roughly 30
min.
In addition to that, participation also means that you will strongly
encourage
people in your lab to attend these seminars. Of course, it will be great if
you will personally make the effort to come to the talks.
We sincerely apologize for giving such short notice, but if you are
interested
to have your lab be part of the new seminar series in the fall or spring,
please reply to this email by Sept 22 (Monday) and if possible, include the
name of one prospective speaker from your lab. The complete list of
speakers
for this fall will be announced shortly.
Thank you very much for your attention on this matter, and we hope to hear
your
positive response. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel
free
to email either me (sschng(a)fas.harvard.edu) or Tania Lupoli
(tlupoli(a)fas.harvard.edu).
Best regards,
Shu-Sin Chng

Dear Group,
Sorry for the delay. If you haven't heard already, our group meetings
will be held on Fridays from 1:30-3pm in the Division Room beginning
this week.
One thing to note: the last Friday of every month, group meeting will
be held in a different room due to a time conflict w/ a monthly
faculty event in the Div Rm. I will let you know via the Group
Meeting Calendar which room is reserved for these Fridays. You should
all have access to this public calendar (see group website).
Regards,
Anna

Dear group members,
I will only be able to have one-on-one meetings on a restricted schedule
this semester. I will probably have most of them during Thursday afternoon
and Friday, and some (urgent ones) on Tuesday afternoon. I will ask you not
to request one-on-one meetings via Google Calendar during the semesters that
I teach, and rather go through Anna. Anna will be scheduling the meetings
because she knows my schedule limitations.
Thank you!
Alan
PS. Jake and James: I will see you guys sometime on Thursday afternoon.
Anna: Can you schedule James and Jake that day?
