Subject: Mathematica Policy Research Job Opportunities- Health Program Analyst Opening - Summer start dates available
Hello,
Mathematica Policy Research (MPR), a social policy and research firm headquartered in Princeton, NJ continues to have great job opportunities. We are interested in recruiting spring 2016 graduates and alumni from your school for our Program Analyst- Health Policy position open in our Washington, DC; Cambridge, MA; Ann Arbor, MI and Chicago, IL offices.
Attached are the job notice which details the position further (a direct URL to apply online is included). Please review and distribute to your current students and alumni networks accordingly. We will be reviewing applications in the upcoming weeks, so please encourage any students and alumni that are interested in the position to apply quickly.
I have also provided a short description below of the position.
We currently have openings for program analysts in the health research division in our Cambridge (MA), Ann Arbor (MI), Washington (DC), and Chicago (IL) office locations. As a program analyst you will manage projects, coordinate project activities, and provide logistical, operational, and analytical support to our research teams. We offer employees a stimulating, team-oriented work environment, competitive salaries, and a comprehensive benefits package, as well as the benefits of employee ownership. We provide three weeks of paid time to start and an on-site fitness center at most locations.
Program analysts in the health research division work on projects that touch virtually every area of the healthcare delivery system in the United States. Broadly guided by the triple aim (improving individual care, improving population health, and reducing cost) of the Affordable Care Act, our projects include large evaluations of demonstration projects sponsored by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, technical assistance to state and federal partners to improve program operations, and database development for the Social Security Administration, among many others.
Program analysts manage and support the operations of these projects in Mathematica’s health division. They work closely with project directors and task leaders to develop and implement processes and systems that ensure the quality, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness of client deliverables. While they may engage in research activities such as conducting interviews and performing literature reviews, the program analyst is not a research, programming, or systems engineering position. Rather, they contribute to the efficient and successful operations of projects, both internal and external, through the broadest possible range and application of problem-solving and interpersonal techniques.
The program analyst position has a defined career trajectory with significant potential for movement within Mathematica. Regardless of their specific assigned role on any given project, program analysts are expected to be leaders both within the context of the project and across the company. Successful health program analysts fulfill a broad array of roles at Mathematica and commonly:
* Provide the energy, direction, and organization needed to help keep research projects on time and on budget by serving as a central hub of project activities. Program Analysts offer a full suite of project management support services, from helping project director’s plan, procure, manage, and close out complex projects, to designing and implementing tools and processes to help organize data and mange teams.
* Record, monitor, and analyze project expenditures in preparation for monthly project reviews and progress reports. Related work includes monitoring subcontractor expenses and invoicing, conducting cost analyses, and forecasting project costs.
* Perform complex analyses of projects to monitor and evaluate project performance and progress; experience using or interest in learning Earned Value Management (EVM) methods is desirable.
* Plan and prepare contract proposals, including preparing budgets for proposals.
* Serve as a liaison among technical project staff, researchers, internal business departments, external consultants, subcontractors, and client representatives.
* Develop and maintain project collaboration tools, including Microsoft SharePoint websites, Access and SQL databases, and Excel spreadsheets.
* Evaluate operational components of project and programs and outline problem, options, and solutions for action to senior staff and client agencies.
* Ensure project adherence to data privacy and security requirements and other contractual stipulations.
* Prepares documentation such as schedules and work plans, requirement analyses, business analyses, programming specifications, and technical material such as data dictionaries.
* Draft sections for deliverable and proposals.

Full-Time Postdoctoral Fellowship in Infant Neuroimaging Department of Medical Social Sciences, Feinberg School of Medicine Northwestern University, Chicago Illinois
We are seeking a full-time postdoctoral fellow for the "When to Worry" (W2W) Study, designed to identify atypical patterns and neural bases of irritability in the first years of life (12-36 mos.) (PI Lauren Wakschlag, funded by the National Institutes of Mental Health). The study will be based in the Developmental Mechanisms Program in the Department of Medical Social Sciences, Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University (http://www.mss.northwestern.edu/research/developmental.html).
The study will employ intensive, state-of-the-art, multi-modal, neurodevelopmental measurement longitudinally in a sample of 350 infants, including dimensional methods, real-time irritability assessment, eye tracking, and infant MRI during natural sleep. The postdoctoral fellow will be an integral member of this scientific team and will have rich opportunities to publish throughout the study, drawing both on data from W2W, and multiple neurodevelopmental studies of irritability and its clinical import from across the laboratories of the investigative team. The fellow will also be encouraged and supported to develop supplementary studies via the NIH NRSA mechanism. The postdoctoral fellow will oversee MRI assessments and neurobehavioral assessments of emergent executive control using eye-tracking methods, under the direction of neuroscientists Maria Kharitonova and John Gilmore. The translational investigative team also includes experts in developmental psychopathology, epidemiology and longitudinal modeling (Margaret Briggs-Gowan, Amelie Petitclerc, & Ryne Estabrook)), real time assessment (Megan Roberts), and cognitive neuroscience (Ellen Leibenluft, Susan Perlman, Daniel Pine & Joel Voss).
W2W will utilize the neuroimaging facility maintained by the Department of Radiology, including two research-dedicated 3T MRI scanners (www.cti.northwestern.edu<http://www.cti.northwestern.edu>). The Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine provides an ideal training environment for postdoctoral fellows, coordinated by the Interdepartmental Neuroscience Program (NUIN: www.nuin.northwestern.edu<http://www.nuin.northwestern.edu>). The Northwestern University Postdoctoral Forum is an organization of postdoctoral fellows that provides additional resources for career and personal development. NU's Innovations in Developmental Sciences (DevSci: devsci.northwestern.edu) program also provides a cross-campus network of interdisciplinary biomedical and social scientists focused on how early development shapes lifecourse health and disease.
Position requires a PhD or MD/PhD in a neuroscience-related field. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with acquisition and processing of infant neuroimaging data including scan acquisition and computer-assisted image analysis pipelines for gray and white matter analysis of infant scans. Candidates with broader pediatric neuroimaging training will also be considered. Training/experience in developmental cognitive neuroscience, developmental psychopathology and strong computational abilities are strongly preferred. Individuals with a background in infant cognition or related areas who are seeking training in developmentally sensitive neuroimaging are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will have an excellent publication record with demonstrated interest in developmental science, and will combine a collaborative orientation with the ability to function well independently.
The postdoctoral fellowship will begin as soon as possible and may extend up to five years. Applicants will be considered until the position is filled. To apply, please send a cover letter, C.V. and the names of three references to: Martha Neary, M.Sc., W2W Project Coordinator @martha.neary@northwestern.edu.
