Visiting Position in Clinical or Counseling Psychology
Bates College, Lewiston Maine
The Bates College Department of Psychology invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position in clinical/counseling psychology beginning August 2023. We seek a candidate who can offer courses and conduct research in areas that address pressing social issues or problems (e.g., environmental injustice, immigration, poverty, trauma, drug use and abuse, adverse childhood events, physical and mental health disparities) and resilience in the face of such problems. We are interested in attracting candidates who share our commitment to the recruitment, retention, and mentoring of students from a wide range of underrepresented and marginalized identities including those from diverse racial, ethnic, and LGBTQAIP backgrounds. In addition, we seek candidates who can bring interdisciplinary, intersectional, and social justice perspectives to their teaching and research. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching (typically 4-5 courses/year including labs) and supervision of undergraduate research.
The college’s mission statement celebrates “the transformative power of our differences.” Accordingly, we believe that campus diversity contributes to student learning, and we embrace our college’s aim to extend access to a Bates education to an ever wider range of students. Candidates who can enhance the diversity of the faculty and/or contribute to supporting an increasingly diverse student body are encouraged to apply.
