See below for a job opportunity at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute.
Hello,
I am the Lab Manager in the labs of Drs. Pearl Chiu and Brooks King-Casas at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute (lab information<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__fbri.vtc.vt.edu_resear…>) in Roanoke, Virginia. We are currently seeking a new Clinical Research Coordinator/Research Associate and would like to get the word out to graduate students who are interested in such a position.
Projects in the labs combine methods from experimental and clinical psychology, neuroscience, and behavioral economics with functional neuroimaging (fMRI) to investigate decision-making in healthy and clinical populations (including adults with mood/anxiety/substance disorders, and at-risk youth). Training will be provided for all aspects of the job. This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in furthering their career in graduate school in clinical or cognitive psychology/neuroscience.
I have attached a complete description of the job, and here is the link <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__careers.pageuppeople.co…> for the posting on the Virginia Tech website. Students can also visit: https://jobs.vt.edu/<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__jobs.vt.edu_&d=DwMGaQ&…> and search job posting # 516242. Would it be possible to forward this information to the psychology and neuroscience graduate students at your institution? Please let me know if you have any questions, or if there is someone else in your department whom it would be better for me to contact.
Thank you so much for your help, and we look forward to possibly receiving some applications from students at your university!
Best,
Katie

Hi there,
I'm searching for a TF/TA (possibly a few) for my HEB course Game Theory
and Social Behavior (HEB 1392) this fall. The course looks at how game
theory can shed light on what shapes our psychology in domains spanning
altruism, innuendo, aesthetics, vengeance, and more. I've included a course
description below. Assignments are paper-based, and we may hold sections,
depending on enrollment. Please let me know if you're interested!
Cheers,
Bethany
*Course Description -*- What happens when the benefits of one strategy
depend on the strategy chosen by another? From doing favors to driving on
the right side of the road, this interdependence characterizes much of
human social behavior, and game theory is the tool designed to reveal what
results. This course will draw on models from game theory and evolutionary
dynamics to explain some of the most puzzling aspects of our psychology,
including why we speak indirectly, why people end up in feuds over trivial
resources, and where our moral intuitions come from. No prior knowledge of
game theory or evolutionary dynamics is required.
In this course you will learn to:
● Understand how game theory models can shed light on the origins of
otherwise puzzling social behavior
● Distinguish proximate and ultimate level explanations for social
behavior, and understand the contribution of game theory models to arriving
at ultimate level explanations
● Evaluate, generate, and design tests of the predictions that game theory
models make about social behavior
