University of Pittsburgh
Department of Psychology
The Department of Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking to fill a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor in the area of child clinical and developmental psychology, pending budgetary approval. The candidate should have doctoral training in child clinical psychology coupled with a strong background and research interests in developmental psychopathology. The ideal candidate will also have a strong background and training in basic processes and mechanisms of normative development, integrating this with issues in psychopathology. The candidate is expected to play a prominent role in joint training in our Clinical and Developmental Psychology graduate programs, conduct an independent program of research, and have a strong commitment to undergraduate education. Areas of interest are open (e.g., anxiety, depression, conduct problems, autism, prevention/intervention), but it is critical that the candidate's research apply a developmental perspective to a clinical issue relevant to children and/or adolescents, with issues relevant to historically underrepresented minority groups especially welcome.
The Psychology Department (http://www.psychology.pitt.edu) is committed to excellence in research and in teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The Department has 36 tenure-stream faculty and houses five core graduate training programs: Biological and Health, Clinical, Cognitive, Developmental, and Social, as well as its unique cross-program training in Clinical and Developmental psychology. The interdisciplinary nature of psychological science is reflected in both faculty research interests and training opportunities afforded to graduate students.
The University of Pittsburgh is an extremely vibrant and collaborative environment for conducting clinically- and developmentally-related basic and applied research. In addition to highly research active Clinical and Developmental programs within the Department of Psychology, additional colleagues and resources are available in the Department of Psychiatry (Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic), the Office of Child Development, the Schools of Education, Social Work, and Public Health, and the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition.
Applicants should apply electronically by sending a cover letter, CV, statement of research and teaching interests, and up to three papers to clinpsy(a)pitt.edu<mailto:clinpsy@pitt.edu>. In addition, three letters of recommendation should be sent to this email address with the applicant's last name and the word "recommendation" in the subject line.
Deadline for submitting applications is October 1, 2013.
