Available postdoctoral position in the Laboratory for Brain and Cognitive Health

A full-time postdoctoral position is available within the Laboratory for Brain and
Cognitive Health Technology at McLean Hospital and Harvard Medical School, under
supervision of Laura Germine, Ph.D. The expected start date is flexible, but with the
expectation that the selected candidate will start between August 2019 and January 2020.
The selected candidate will work on projects investigating intra-individual differences in
cognition, mood, and behavior across a range of physical and mental health conditions, as
well as in healthy aging. These projects include development of state-of-the-art digital
technology tools as well as application of time series analysis and informatic approaches.
Projects are funded by the National Institute of Mental Health, National Institute of
Aging, as well as a newly funded R01 from the National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive,
and Kidney Disease to look at the relationship between mood, cognition, and blood glucose.
The selected candidate will also have the opportunity to work with cutting edge methods
for assessing cognition and behavior using digital technology, as part of Dr. Germine’s
laboratory and the
TestMyBrain.org<http://testmybrain.org/> project (with data from
over 2.3 million participants). The fellow will have access to this data as well as
contribute to the further development of web and mobile technologies that serve the public
good and advance the science of cognitive health.
Qualifications:
· PhD or equivalent in psychology, neuroscience, epidemiology, statistics, computer
science, or a related field is required.
· Interest in measurement as well as novel applications of digital technology towards
understanding health and disease.
· Experience or sufficient background to conduct statistical analyses of cognition and
behavior.
In addition to an appointment at McLean Hospital, the fellow will be recommended for
academic appointment as a Research Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard
Medical School.
The Laboratory for Brain and Cognitive Health Technology is part of the Institute for
Technology in Psychiatry (ITP), a newly launched initiative at McLean Hospital that aims
to develop, validate, and apply mobile, web, and informatics-based health technologies to
assess, monitor, and treat mental disorders.
