Call for Applications: Weatherhead Scholars Program 2022–2023
The Weatherhead Center for International Affairs invites visiting faculty, postdoctoral
fellows, and experienced practitioners to apply to the Weatherhead Scholars
Program<https://scholarsprogram.wcfia.harvard.edu/> for academic year 2022–2023.
During their time in residence, scholars and fellows are expected to present their
research in biweekly Weatherhead Scholars seminars; participate in the biweekly WCFIA
Forum; contribute to some of the Center’s many other intellectual activities, including
research clusters and/or Epicenter; and engage with the undergraduate and graduate student
communities. Scholars and fellows will have a desk in a shared office and access to
Harvard’s vast library system. They may also audit courses with the instructor’s
permission. Faculty and postdoctoral applicants must possess a PhD at the time of
application, and all applicants must agree to be in residence for a minimum of four months
(at least three of these during the academic year). See attached brochure.
• Visiting Faculty: We will consider faculty in the social sciences from
other universities and programs, as well as academics employed by think tanks. They should
be able to secure their own funding from sabbatical salary or external grants.
• Postdoctoral Researchers: We will consider individuals who have obtained
their PhDs in the last three calendar years, or who will have defended by the start of
their academic appointment. Some postdoctoral fellowship funding is available through the
Weatherhead Center (see below).
• Experienced Practitioners: We will consider practitioners with an
established record of professional achievement, including civil servants, heads of NGOs,
and journalists, among others. All Visiting Fellows are expected to pursue a research
project.
Applications should be submitted online by November 1, 2021 at 11:59 pm.
Postdoctoral Fellowships
Two funded postdoctoral fellowship opportunities will be available in 2022–2023 through
the Weatherhead Scholars
Program<http://scholarsprogram.wcfia.harvard.edu/>u/>:
1) The Raphael Morrison Dorman fellowship supports up to four postdoctoral fellows
annually (stipend plus health insurance).
2) Thanks to generous support from the Greek Republic, a new one-year fellowship (stipend
plus health insurance) is available for a postdoctoral fellow from any discipline studying
the role of Southern European countries in the promotion of economic and cultural
cooperation with Africa.
Interested candidates for either fellowship are invited to
apply<https://scholarsprogram.wcfia.harvard.edu/applying-fellows-program… to the
Weatherhead Scholars Program by the deadline of November 1. We will consider all WSP
postdoctoral applications for funding from both sources.
