interdisciplinary research center, (CCOR) the Center for Childhood Obesity Research. The
mission of CCOR is to conduct interdisciplinary research that contributes to the evidence
base needed to inform successful childhood obesity prevention programs that can then be
disseminated to public health and clinical practice audiences. This individual will join a
multi-institutional interdisciplinary team to support primary project activities and pilot
studies.

interdisciplinary, translational research that contributes to the evidence base needed to
inform successful pediatric obesity prevention programs that can be disseminated to public
health and clinical audiences. Our Center combines the research strengths of the College
of Health and Human Development to provide training in the areas of eating behavior, child
development, parenting, social determinants, and bioindicators of health.

The Center for Childhood Obesity Research is currently recruiting a Postdoctoral Research
scholar under the supervision of Jennifer Savage Williams, Ph.D. The successful candidate
will join a dynamic team that includes 2 research faculty members, 4 graduate students, 2
postdoctoral scholars, 4 full-time research staff, 4 nutrition educators, an

This research scholar position offers extensive opportunities for training in manuscript
writing, grant writing, leadership, and innovative technologies and methodologies. While
the successful candidate will work primarily on collaborative projects, he/she will also
have protected time and support to work on their own independent research projects. The
candidate will receive mentorship to further develop their research and analytical skills
and learn to develop and implement multicomponent behavioral interventions. The candidate
will have the opportunity to build clinical and community partnerships, and learn a
variety of methodologies, including real-time ecological momentary assessment of health
behaviors using sensors, accelerometers, and smartphone technology. The candidate will
also have opportunities to audit relevant courses offered at Penn State and attend
professional development trainings and seminars offered by CCOR and affiliated departments
at Penn State. The Postdoctoral Scholar will be provided with some financial support to
develop independent research projects, attend methodological trainings, and travel to
disseminate scientific findings at national conferences. Postdoctoral research scholars
will have priority consideration for Assistant Research Professor positions offered by the
Center. The Center for Childhood Obesity Research has had numerous postdoctoral fellows
successfully transition to faculty positions at Penn State and elsewhere.
Primary responsibilities of the candidate will depend on the candidate's skills,
interests, and goals, as well as fit with the research priorities. Responsibilities may
include, but are not limited to:
* Developing intervention curriculum and materials
* Developing study protocols
* Training staff to deliver interventions
* Developing and overseeing intervention fidelity monitoring systems
* Coordinating and assisting with data collection, management, and analysis
* Preparing manuscripts
* Developing grant proposals
* Assist in mentoring graduate and undergraduate students

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in statistical analysis and excellent
writing skills. The position provides salary and benefits based on those for
NIH postdoctoral fellowship. Qualified candidates will have a Ph.D. in nutrition, public
health, human development and family studies, psychology, or a related field. We are
especially interested in candidates with experience in intervention development and
delivery and/or strong quantitative and analytical skills, and proficiency in SAS

remain open until filled. The initial position is guaranteed for one year; funding is
available for yearly appointments contingent upon satisfactory performance.
