in the M.A. Program in the Social Sciences (MAPSS) at the University of Chicago.
This is a full-time, career-track teaching position that offers opportunities for both
classroom teaching and for mentoring students on research projects. The initial three-year
appointment will begin in Academic Year 2023-24 and is renewable with the opportunity for
promotion.
An Instructional Professor in MAPSS teaches four courses, including one section of the
required social theory course, Perspectives in Social Science Analysis, and serves as an
advisor and second reader for M.A. students as they formulate and write a thesis. As you
may know, MAPSS enrolls outstanding students, many of whom compete successfully for
admission to the best doctoral programs in Psychology.
IPs are strongly supported in their development by the leadership and senior academic
staff in MAPSS. They also participate regularly in the activities of our departments.
