Psychology Diversity Postdoctoral Fellows
The Department of Psychology at the University of Michigan invites applications for a
combined postdoc and tenure-track faculty appointment. Fellows will have up to 2 years to
develop their independent research programs without teaching and service responsibilities
before entering the tenure track. Pending a positive review during the second year of the
post-doctoral period, the fellow will be invited to move into a tenure-track assistant
professor position.
The fellow may affiliate with one of these eligible areas of Psychology: Biopsychology,
Clinical, Developmental, Education and Psychology, Social Psychology, Gender, and Feminist
Psychology.The Psychology Department is committed to providing mentoring and research
resources that will support fellows in establishing independent research programs.
We seek applicants whose research, teaching, service, and/or advocacy will contribute to
our diversity mission. We are particularly interested in scholars who are members of
groups that have been historically underrepresented in Psychology or whose research
interests bring a critical perspective to understanding the experiences of groups that are
historically under-represented (by race, ethnicity, gender, social class, sexual
orientation, etc.).
Successful candidates must have a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline by the time the position
starts (September 1, 2017). Fellows will be expected to establish an independent research
program but will be encouraged to establish productive collaborations with colleagues.
Please submit a letterof intent, curriculum vitae, a statement of current and future
research plans, a statement of teaching philosophy and experience, and evidence of
teaching excellence. In addition, all applicants should prepare a brief (1 page or less)
statement describing how they will contribute to the diversity mission of the Psychology
Department, keeping in mind that service and advocacy regarding diversity will be
considered important contributions to this mission. Applicants should also request at
