DATA ANALYST POSITION FOR ARMY HEALTH PROJECT
The Positive Psychology Center at the University of Pennsylvania seeks a data analyst for
a grant examining the influence of psychological assets on performance, health outcomes,
and health care utilization in U.S. Army Soldiers. The data analyst will link massive Army
data sets containing soldiers' occupation, award, promotion, deployment, education,
training, family, conduct, survey (e.g., entrance exams, psychological data), and medical
records to model soldier psychological and physical health before and after deployment.
The data analyst will provide statistical and data analysis support across various
research initiatives, and have publication opportunities. Responsibilities include
developing analytical data sets and performing statistical analyses and modeling. The data
analyst will communicate results to project members and contribute toward writing
statistical methods/results sections of manuscripts for publication. The project involves
leading researchers in psychology and preventive health, including Drs. Martin Seligman,
Laura Kubzansky, Ed Diener, Laurence Steinberg, and Darwin Labarthe.
Candidates should have the following:
* Master's or doctoral degree in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, public
health, health economics, psychology or a related field
* 1-2 years of experience in statistical analysis programming
* Proficiency using SAS
* Experience working with large-scale health data sets
* Experience using relational database software (e.g., Oracle SQL) is preferred
The data analyst will work in Monterey, California.
