The University of Central Florida Department of Psychology (College of Sciences) seeks
applicants for an Assistant Professor level tenure-track position in Cognitive
Neuroscience (broadly defined) to begin in Fall 2015. The appointment will be in the
Department of Psychology, but the faculty member will also be part of a new neuroscience
consortium between the Department of Psychology, UCF's Burnett School of Biomedical
Sciences (College of Medicine), and other university departments. Primary teaching duties
will be in the Department of Psychology, with opportunities to provide collaborative
training and research experiences with other consortium members.
We are looking for a scientist with expertise in any area of cognition (e.g., memory,
executive function), emotion, or any area that can increase fundamental knowledge of
neurophysiological processes associated with behavioral or medical conditions (e.g.,
vascular health, cognitive aging). Candidates with expertise in neuroscience methods such
as EEG/ERP, NIRS, or TMS, or in relating genetic or other biological markers to
brain/cognitive function are particularly encouraged to apply. The new position is part
of a growth initiative at UCF and the appointment will be in the Applied Experimental and
Human Factors program. The Applied Experimental and Human Factors program consists of 10
full-time faculty members with expertise in a wide range of domains including attention,
cognition, neuroscience, aging, and visual perception as applied to a range of practical
domains such as automation and robotics, aviation, driving, team performance simulation,
and training.
Applicants for the position must have a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree from an
accredited institution by Aug. 8, 2015. Candidates must also demonstrate a record of
scholarship capable of attracting external funding, and strong teaching
potential/experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Compensation for the nine-month appointment is competitive and commensurate with
experience and qualifications. UCF is classified as a Very High Research Activity (RU/VH)
University by the Carnegie Foundation and has the second largest enrollment in the country
(approximately 60,000). The Department of Psychology at UCF has 52 full-time faculty,
over 4,000 undergraduate majors, and houses Ph.D. programs in Applied Experimental and
Human Factors, Clinical, and I/O Psychology.
