The Clinical Affective Neuroscience Laboratory at the University of California, San
Francisco (UCSF) is seeking a postdoctoral fellow. Our lab investigates the
neurobiological basis of emotions and affective symptoms across the lifespan. Our ongoing
NIH-funded studies examine emotional functioning in neurodegenerative diseases (e.g.,
older adults with frontotemporal dementia and Alzheimer's disease) and
neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g., children with dyslexia).
We are housed within the UCSF Memory and Aging Center in the Department of Neurology
(

and use a multimodal approach in our research. We integrate laboratory-based measures of
emotional responding (i.e., autonomic nervous system activity, facial expression, and
subjective experience) with structural and functional connectivity neuroimaging techniques
to identify the neural correlates of emotional alterations across clinical disorders.

The postdoctoral fellow will have the opportunity to participate in our active,
innovative, interdisciplinary research environment that bridges the fields of affective
science, neuroscience, and behavioral neurology. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in
psychology, neuroscience, or a related field. We are looking for candidates with a
background in affective science who have neuroimaging experience and strong statistical
training and communication skills. Programming experience is also preferred but not
required. The start date is flexible; review of applications will begin immediately.
Applicants should send a brief cover letter describing interests and relevant prior
experience, CV, and contact information for three references to Virginia Sturm
(virginia.sturm@ucsf.edu<mailto:virginia.sturm@ucsf.edu>).
