McLean Hospital - Harvard Medical School Postdoctoral Position
A full-time postdoctoral position is now available within the Laboratory for Brain and
Cognitive Health Technology at McLean Hospital and Harvard Medical School, under
supervision of Laura Germine, Ph.D. The Laboratory for Brain and Cognitive Health
Technology is part of the Institute for Technology in Psychiatry (ITP), a newly launched
initiative at McLean Hospital that aims to develop, validate, and apply mobile, web, and
informatics-based health technologies to assess, monitor, and treat mental disorders. The
ITP is the first of its kind in the United States, and the fellow will have a unique
opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team at the cutting edge of health
technology.
Ongoing studies in Dr. Germine’s lab are focused on understanding fundamental aspects of
information processing including perception, attention, executive control, and social
cognition, and their relationship with mental and physical health across the lifespan.
Dr. Germine is the Director of
TestMyBrain.org, a large citizen science platform for
behavioral research that has recruited 1.6 million participants from all over the world.
The fellow will have access to this data as well as contribute to the further development
of web and mobile technologies that serve the public good and advance the science of
cognitive health. Finally, the fellow will work within the broader landscape of health
technology development in academia and industry, as part of partnerships that are being
established under the ITP.
In addition to an appointment at McLean Hospital, the fellow will be recommended for
academic appointment as a Research Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard
Medical School. The fellow will also work with ITP leadership including Dr. Justin Baker,
Dr. Kerry Ressler, and Dr. Scott Rauch.
Qualified candidates must have a doctoral degree, with expertise in psychology,
psychiatry, neuroscience and/or statistics. The candidate must have experience or
sufficient background to conduct statistical analyses of behavioral phenotypes.
