My concerns
1] it takes the professional judgement out of collection management.
Just because"Hathi Trust and Google Books full-text", may have the
item listed is NOT sufficient reason to discard (what happens when
the digital format changes, or there when there is any other damage
to the electronic record - or even if the power just goes out <g>)
'Hathi Trust and Google Books full-text " ...virtual books may turn out to
be as vulnerable as the papyrus or parchment of the Library at Alexandria
We STILL need redundancy to ensure preserved documents somewhere
2 This seems it seems to be a neat system for routing books to
Better World Books who are NOT actually charity, despite their PR,
but a very profitable organization. Only a relatively percentage of their r
turnover gets routed to the donating libraries. Their might be better ways
of
recovering cash for discarded book assets than feeding BWB profits.

carnival seasons; the many variations on the religious and popular
ceremonies of Holy Week and Easter; the fire-walking Anastenarides, probably
remnants of the ancient groups dedicated to the cult of Dionysos; the
bull-sacrifices of Lesbos; the annual appearance in church of the Virgin's
serpents in Kefalonia; and the annual services in honour of the Cross, held
in commemoration of a vision received during the German occupation, in
Metsovo. From proud military parades commemorating the trials and victories
