The Special Collections Coordinator oversees acquisition of material in all
formats via purchase, exchange, transfer, gift or deposit for addition to
the collections of the Library of Congress. Examples of material formats
include online and electronic publications, databases used for reference
and research, manuscripts, recordings, prints, photographs, maps, and rare
books. The position manages acquisition of library materials through direct
gift as well as through formal agreements of gift and deposit, which the
Coordinator will prepare with Library subject specialists and the Office of
the General Counsel after negotiating with donors. In regards to gifts and
deposits, the Coordinator will also determine the best method to use in the
packing and shipping of the gift or deposit material into the Library's
custody.

The Journal of New Librarianship is pleased to announce that it is
accepting submissions for its inaugural issue, anticipated for Fall 2016.
This launch is the result of collaborative efforts among colleagues within
the field of Library and Information Sciences.
There is a need to offer quality literature in our field in an open,
independently produced journal. Beyond that, we believe that the library is
meant to set an example for academia. Free and open access to information
and innovation is crucial to the future of our institutions and profession.
By providing an outlet that mixes both traditional and disruptive forms of
scholarly and professional communication, we can change the way our
profession shares and leads.
Submissions may include, but are not limited to: Solicited articles;
Scholarly Articles; Essays; Experience and opinion pieces; Media (i.e.,
podcasts, video, etc) relevant to innovative practices in librarianship;
Book reviews; Technology reviews; Letters to the Editor on topics relevant
to the field; Data sets; Manifestos; Extended scholarship (Greater than
15,000 words); and Interviews.

The Division of Preservation and Access of the National Endowment for the
Humanities will be accepting applications for grants in its *Humanities
Collections and Reference Resources *program, with a deadline of *July 19,
2016*. These grants support projects to preserve and create intellectual
access to such collections as books, journals, manuscript and archival
materials, maps, still and moving images, sound recordings, art, and
objects of material culture. Awards also support the creation of reference
works, online resources, and research tools of major importance to the
humanities. Eligible activities are wide-ranging, many of which involve
