Dear Colleagues,
I'm passing on this announcement by request of Gonda Van Steen, Executive Director of the Modern Greek Studies Association.

Subject: MGSA's Stock of Books and Journals
Dear colleagues,
The Modern Greek Studies Association has a fairly large stock of old Bulletins, issues of the Journal of Modern Greek Studies, and other MGSA publications available, which it would like to sell.
Here's what is available and what the MGSA charges for each item:
- lots of old Bulletins, available for free to anyone who is missing the odd one from his/her collection
- multiple copies of Iatrides's Greece in the 1940s, in English and in Greek, and also the accompanying bibliography which appeared as a separate volume: we ask $10 per copy
http://www.amazon.com/Greece-1940s-Nation-Studies-Association/dp/0874511984…
- multiple copies of Dia Philippides's Census of Modern Greek Literature: we ask $10 per copy
http://www.amazon.com/Census-Modern-Greek-Literature-English-Language/dp/09…
- many old issues of the MGSA's first journal, in collaboration with the UK: Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies: we ask $5.00 per copy
- on average about 10 issues each of all old Journal of Modern Greek Studies issues, since 1983: we ask $5.00 per copy
Please send inquiries to the MGSA's Executive Director, Gonda Van Steen at mgsa.org(a)gmail.com<mailto:mgsa.org@gmail.com> . The cost of domestic shipping is very reasonable if we can apply the library-to-library rate.
Thank you very much,
Gonda Van Steen

Proposal for Revision of Uighur Romanization Table
11/05/14
A proposal to revise the Uighur romanization table has been submitted to the Library of Congress and is available for review at Uighur<http://www.loc.gov/catdir/cpso/romanization/uighur-rev.pdf> < http://www.loc.gov/catdir/cpso/romanization/uighur-rev.pdf > [PDF, 207 KB].
The objectives of this revision are fourfold:
* 1. The existing rules were occasionally confusing and conflicting (e.g. Rule 2) and hampered reversibility (Rules 2, 6, 7, and 9).
* 2. The letters "i" and "y" are distinct in Uighur and should be distinct in Romanization.
* 3. Medial hamzah should be romanized ' (alif).
* 4. The new table is now almost completely reversible.
Comments on this proposed romanization table may be sent to Bruce Johnson, Policy and Standards Division (bjoh(a)loc.gov<mailto:bjoh@loc.gov>) by February 5, 2015.

In the Fall of 2013 we requested participation for a study of academic
librarians concerning the skills, knowledge, abilities or dispositions that
are most respected and/or admired by academic librarians, and how these
qualities might, or might not, be related to generational membership,
career length, broad job function, and institutional classification.
The article reporting the results of that study, “Cross-Generational
Valuing Among Peer Academic Librarians” has been accepted and is scheduled
for publication in *College & Research Libraries *in July 2015. The
pre-print, dated June 8, 2014, is currently available in the pre-print
section of the *College & Research Libraries* web site.
While our response rate from younger academic librarians was sufficient for
the study, it was quite low in comparison to the response from older
academic librarians. We believe that, in order to gain a clearer
understanding of the issue of cross-generational valuing in an academic
library setting, we need to hear from more Millennial librarians. We
proposed this new study to ACRL for 2015 conference and it has been
accepted for presentation.
*So we are asking your assistance. If you are an academic librarian under
the age of 32 w**e’d like to invite you to participate by taking this
revised eight-question survey that should take under 10 minutes to
complete. *

No personal identifying information will be collected. The aggregated
results of survey responses will be compiled and shared only in summary
form. *The survey will close on November 25, 2014.*
