Dear Colleagues,
LC's acquisitions people have recently expressed concern about the performance of MAM, LC's long-time Cypriot approval plan vendor. Issues include their sending invoices for materials that are never received, and sending duplicates of materials already provided in earlier shipments.
I volunteered to ask the CoHSL group about their experiences, if any, with MAM as a vendor and approval plan dealer; please let me have any comments you may have. As far as I know, MAM is the only real option for Cypriot publications -- is anybody aware of any others?
Thanks, and best regards to all,
Harry

1. Modern Greek history in the digital domain: preserving, displaying
and teaching the past
Project's team: Effi Gazi (Coordinator, University of the
Peloponnese), Antonis Liakos (University of Athens), Dimitrios Bilalis
(University of Thessaly), Eleni Kommata, Stelios Kymionis (Hellenic
National Audiovisual Archive)
The study focuses on scholarly projects and on public history
manifestations of Modern Greek history in the digital domain. Its
scope is twofold: a. to compile a reliable database in both the Greek
and English languages of digital archival sources, digital
bibliographical material and audiovisual resources on Modern Greek
History which will be useful for both scientific and educational
purposes and b. to explore the public history of modern Greece in the
digital domain with a particular emphasis on life stories, family and
local histories in an attempt to unravel the public uses of the past.
By combining the two areas of research, the study aims at compiling a
comprehensive guide of Modern Greek history in the digital domain and
at providing a thorough analysis of the multifaceted reality of
digital technologies and visual media with reference to the
representation of Modern Greek history.

This site provides online access to the volumes currently out of copyright
of *Corpus Inscriptionum Latinarum (CIL)*, the corpus of ancient Roman
inscriptions. This digitized version of the *CIL* will initially comprise
the more than 50 parts (vols. I-XVI + auctaria and v. I, editio altera)
published before 1940 and be made accessible in *Arachne*, the central
object database of the German Archaeological Institute and the
Archaeological Institute of the University of Cologne. *Arachne* is headed
by Reinhard Foertsch.
The pages of text and inscriptions can be searched via imperfect OCR
recognition. We hope to make the retrieval of inscription and page numbers
as well as titles more precise as the work progresses. To learn more and to
access the resource, please consult the *Arachne *database (
