Paperback with flaps, 336 pages, 298 CZK, ISBN 978-80-7363-416-2
Series Point, Issue 1, will be released June 12, 2012
At the turn of the 40th and 50 of the last century came from Greece to
Czechoslovakia approximately twelve thousand refugees affected by
civil war. They thought then that it is only a temporary stay. But he
soon turned into a temporary retreat second home. The richly
illustrated book junior team of researchers led by prominent Czech
experts in the history of Greece, Konstantinos and Katerina Kralova
Tsivosem, analyzes the personal testimony of five dozen witnesses
three generations. This first-ever collective monograph on the subject
is its pioneering concepts and analysis. In the historical
introduction and twelve thematic studies dealing with their attitudes
towards occupation and civil war. Based on interviews intriguingly
close to the path of emigration and the fate of children, but also the
process of integration and efforts to maintain its own identity. The
book not only moves in the field of history, but also reflects how the
individual perceives himself the role attributed to him and his
surroundings in the historical process and his experiences as
advocates in the broader social context.
About the author: Dr.. Katerina Kralova, Ph.D. (* 1976) works at the
Institute of International Studies Faculty of Social Sciences of

social status of victims of political and social injustice in
contemporary history, especially the Greek Civil War, anti-Semitism

especially in Greece.

Dear Colleagues,
A new book-length translation is available for adding to your personal collection or to courses on post-classical Greek literature and culture, also for recommending to your institution’s Library for purchase. Penelope Delta’s seminal novels (for young but also adult readers) are well-known and classified under historical or ideological fiction:
Penelope Delta, The Secrets of the Swamp. Translated by Ruth Bobick. Portsmouth, NH; Peter E. Randall Publisher, 2012. 475 p.
ISBN: 978-1-931807-87-6; 1-931807-87-6

“The epic-scale novel is set in Europe’s most complex and diverse ethnic region. Its unforgettable story of two children of war unfolds amidst a fierce struggle for national identity in Macedonia. A vibrant translation conveys the promise and the perils of rebel life and action at the swamp.” (John C. Rouman)
And in case you missed notice of the related earlier publication (see following entry), you might add it now to your book-order:
Penelope Delta, In the Heroic Age of Basil II, Emperor of Byzantium. Translated by Ruth Bobick. Portsmouth, NH: Peter E. Randall Publisher, 2006. 343 p.
ISBN: 9781931807524 1-931807-52-3
www.perpublisher.com<http://www.perpublisher.com>
“[A] compelling story, full of adventure and challenge. … [raising] thought-provoking questions, [set] in the Byzantine Empire” (from the translator’s note).
Both books are listed in WorldCat.
