Dear MGSA community,
York University Libraries seeks a detail-oriented archivist to work on a

and rare books related to the Greek immigrant experience in Canada.
Specific items include, but are not limited to, photos, letters, booklets,
newspapers, and posters. These records have an enduring value to support

Colleagues,
A professor at my institution has questions about the Thesaurus Linguae Latinae and how its functionality compares to TLG.
As you know, I have worked with the Thesaurus Linguae Graecae extensively in the past (though not within the last few years), and I was wondering if you might provide me with a quick comparison between its abilities and those of the Thesaurus Linguae Latinae?
* Would I be able to, for example, index a specific Latin author's works with the TLL as I can index specific Greek authors within the TLG?
* Can I, with the TLL, search for specific Latin phrases or vocabulary within a precise time period in the same way I can isolate Greek vocabulary in specific eras within the TLG?
For anyone who has access to both and can respond, please reply to me off-list. Thanks.
Best,
George

Dear Friends of the Tsakopoulos Hellenic Collection,
I am pleased to announce that Alexander Kitroeff, Professor of History at Haverford College, has donated nearly 1,000 select volumes and his professional papers to the Tsakopoulos Hellenic Collection in the University Library at California State University, Sacramento.
The books and journals deal principally with Modern Greek history since independence, with main areas of strength being the dawn of independent Greece under King Otto (1832-1862), Asia Minor, and the period of the 1930s-1974. There are also significant materials on Modern Greek politics, including the Macedonian Question, communism, and foreign policy during the 20th century, rounded out with publications on literature, culture, and the Olympic Games. Notable among the journals is a run of approximately 40 issues of Neos Kosmos, a rare periodical published by Greek communists in exile in the 1960s-1970s. Additional books, featuring a collection on the Greeks of Egypt, will be donated in the near future.
Kitroeff’s manuscript material (ca. 15 linear feet) consists of research files on the Greek Orthodox Church in America, the Greeks in Egypt, the modern Olympics and sport, and correspondence with Greek and American scholars, including in his role on the editorial board of the Journal of the Hellenic Diaspora.
We are most grateful to Prof. Kitroeff for this valuable addition to the Tsakopoulos Hellenic Collection. For more information about the collection, see https://library.csus.edu/tsakopoulos-hellenic-collection/kitroeff.
Best,
George
