A collaborative effort of archivists and curators at six institutions, the guide "offers recommendations to help ensure the physical and intellectual well being of born-digital materials transferred from donors to archival repositories" (from the introduction). "Born Digital" has been published at MediaCommons in part because its authors hope that it represents a site for conversation about born-digital materials among dealers in rare books, manuscripts, and archives, archivists and curators, potential donors of such materials, educators, students, and others. The MediaCommons interface offers the capability to comment on each section of the document.
