Thank you, Harry, for giving us this update and for encouraging all to come to the
conference. To CoHSL members--please do try to come! The past few years have been
difficult for most of us. We had to shelve plans for the Collaborative Program for
Hellenic Resources due to severe budget cuts. It would be wonderful to reconnect, share
information and ideas about how we do our work now versus a few years ago, and perhaps we
can think creatively how to work together to maximize our resources in these straitened
times.
All best,
Rhea

Subject: [Cohsl-list] Bibliography/Library panel at October MGSA Symposium
Dear colleagues, fellow librarians, bibliographers, and archivists!
The preliminary program for the October symposium of the Modern Greek Studies Association
(MGSA) has come out; you may access it at:
http://mgsa.org/Temp/2011sched.html
The conference will be October 13-16 at New York University; details (including about
hotels) are available via the MGSA website:
http://www.mgsa.org/
There will be one panel devoted specifically to bibliography and library matters -- it
will be on Thursday, October 13, 5.30-7.30 pm. (room to be announced later). Here is the
program:
Βιβλία πολλά: Library Collections and Bibliographic Projects
* Michaela Karampini-Iatrou (independent scholar, Athens): "The Multiple Uses of
Cavafy's Library"
* Dia M. L. Philippides (Boston College): "Found in Translation: Modern Greek
Literature Without Borders"
* Anthony J. Oddo (Yale U.): "The Development of Modern Greek Collections at
Yale"
* Harold M. Leich (Library of Congress): "Developments in Modern Greek Collections
and Services at the Library of Congress, 2006-2010"
I have also asked the Program Committee for a time slot for a more informal
meeting/discussion to talk about matters of general, practical interest: library
reorganizations, budget cuts, bibliographic control, book dealers for Greece and Cyprus,
collaborative projects, etc. I will post a note to the list when I know the date and time
for this meeting.
Please seriously consider attending the 2011 Symposium of the Association; it would be
nice to have a good turnout of bibliographers, librarians, and archivists for this event.
Ευχαριστώ πολύ!
