adults and families. We are currently searching for a live-in mentor to
work with an eighteen year old young lady transitioning to her own
apartment from a hospital setting, needing added support and direction
in order to develop life goals. (Harvard Square, Cambridge MA.) We would
prefer a sociology or psychology graduate student, with some experience
working with young adults and families, if not; we are willing to
provide training to a motivated individual. A commitment through
June/July 2011 is required. Supervision will be provided face-to-face

*_Basic Job Description - Mentor _*
*To provide guidance and supervision, and to act as a positive adult
role model to this client. To assist client with organization of
assignments and materials, calendar planning, time management, home
management skills, and the job application process, to include resume
building, job interviews and applications. Additionally, must be
proficient in emancipation skills to include budgeting, money
management, shopping, and cooking. To assist family consultant in
delivering didactic and experiential education sessions that teach daily
living skills, social skills, cognitive restructuring, building
self-confidence, motivational skills, alternative coping skills and
other skills as needed. To work in collaboration with biological parents
and family consultant in all aspects of duties and responsibilities. *
*_Knowledge Skills & Abilities_**: *
*1. Use of a conceptual framework for human development and related
problems.*
*2. Ability to develop alliances and maintain appropriate boundaries. *
*3. Knowledge of and ability to utilize de-escalation skills in a
volatile situation. *

*_Hours/Compensation_**:*
*Full-time live-in position (with days free), some weekend availability,
days and hours totally negotiable and tailored around students schedule.
Time commitment is not expected to be onerous, ability to work another
job during the day. We would be willing to consider an internship, if
not; this is a regular paid position to include free room/board and all
living expenses, a weekly stipend will also be negotiated ranging from
$250+ per week dependant on skills and experience. *

*University of Pittsburgh School of Arts and Sciences Announces New
Postdoctoral Fellowships*
The University of Pittsburgh School of Arts and Sciences is now offering
up to eight postdoctoral fellowships in the humanities and social
sciences to begin in January 2011. The fellowships are for one year and
are renewable for an additional year. Fellows will teach two courses
per year, complete scholarly work, and participate in the academic and
intellectual community of the School of Arts and Sciences and the
Department with which they are affiliated. The annual stipend will be
$45,000.
We invite applications from qualified candidates in the humanities and
social sciences who have received the PhD between December 1, 2007 and
November 1, 2010. Applicants who do not have the PhD in hand at the
time of application must provide a letter from the Department Chair or
the Advisor stating that the PhD will be conferred before the term of
the fellowship begins.
