The Department of Sociology at Brandeis University seeks an instructor for the SOC 130a Families, Kinship & Sexuality, 4 credit course in Spring 2024.
This course investigates changes in the character of American families over the last two centuries. A central concern will be the dynamic interactions among economic, cultural, political, and social forces, and how they shape and are reshaped by families over time. Particular attention is paid to how experiences of men and women vary by class, race, and ethnicity. This course meets Oral Communication requirements for the Department of Sociology. In Oral Communication courses, each student must give two presentations of at least 5 minutes long during the semester; these may be live or recorded on a digital platform. Students must also receive instructor and/or peer feedback to the presentations. This class meets on T/TH 3:55-5:15pm.
Candidates with an MA in Sociology or related field and teaching or research experience related to the areas of the sociology of families, gender, and sexuality will be given preference. Interested individuals should submit a cover letter, CV, a draft course syllabus, and names and contact information for two references. The deadline for first consideration is October 10, 2023. Apply online.<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__brandeis.wd5.myworkday…>
