May I request you to kindly bring Ahmedabad University (www.ahduni.edu.in) to the attention of graduating doctoral students and post-docs at your department who may be looking for short or long term academic opportunities in India. I am attaching a detailed note as well.
Ahmedabad University, a young liberal education driven private research university, is looking to hire faculty at its new School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) at all levels. The School is establishing five Divisions: Humanities & Languages, Social Sciences, Mathematical & Physical Sciences, Biological & Life Sciences, and Performing and Fine Arts. The School currently runs a five year integrated Masters programme in Life Sciences and will be starting liberal arts undergraduate and masters programmes in 2018.
Ahmedabad and India are today a researcher's delight especially if someone is keen on combining theory and field work. India is changing very dramatically in all spheres and the change is throwing up very pertinent and exciting questions for researchers to address. Ahmedabad University is looking to establish serious academic programmes in Arts & Sciences that are also interdisciplinary in nature. The University provides special support for early career academics through startup, seed, and challenge grants and through lower teaching hours so as to allow experimenting with innovative pedagogy & courses and building of their research programme. A majority of our faculty have also won external research grants. The University has a strong nurturing and achievement oriented environment.
Ahmedabad University is a city university and is located in one of India's most vibrant cities, Ahmedabad, that is culturally active, where the cost of living is favourable and living is safe. We provide a wonderful opportunity for those who want to be part of the building of a young institution while developing their own academic agenda.
Graduating doctoral students who are looking for a tenure track opportunity at an upcoming innovative Indian institution or faculty who want to spend a semester or a sabbatical year in India may contact me. I am also visiting Boston on April 29th & 30th and would be happy to meet with interested students.
Thank you.
Regards,
Pankaj Chandra
