I am delighted to highlight the news that the Stone Center on Socio-Economic Inequality, at the Graduate Center at the City University of New York, has launched a call for two postdocs. These are two-year positions, to start in September 2020. These incoming postdocs will join two who came aboard this past September. When these positions are filled, our interdisciplinary team will be enlarged to six professors, five professional staff, a fabulous array of GC students, and … four postdocs.

We are delighted to announce that the Stone Center on Socio-Economic Inequality<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__cuny.us17.list-2Dmanag…> has posted applications for two additional postdoctoral scholars<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__cuny.us17.list-2Dmanag…> starting in the 2020-2021 academic year. Our first two postdoctoral scholars<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__cuny.us17.list-2Dmanag…> started their positions in September of 2019.
The Stone Center is an official research center within the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. The work of the Stone Center, including the postdoc program, is supported by a generous award from the James M. and Cathleen D. Stone Foundation.
The Stone Center’s postdoc program enables scholars, with a recent Ph.D., to spend two years producing empirical research on topics such as earnings, income, and wealth inequality, and contributing to the work of the Stone Center. Priority will be given to candidates conducting research in the following areas:
* Distribution of earnings, income, wealth, and/or consumption
* Intergroup disparities (gender, race, ethnicity, migration status)
* Politics of inequality
* Social mobility
* History of inequality
Each postdoc will receive an annual salary of $87,000, benefits including health insurance, funding to hire Graduate Center students as research assistants, and additional support to help offset the costs of hardware and software, books and journals, and travel.

The Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies (MPIfG) provides an attractive environment for postdoctoral researchers to pursue their own research projects within the scope of the Institute’s research program. The Institute invites suitable candidates to apply for the postdoctoral positions which will be awarded for two years. Postdoctoral researchers receive an employment contract; pay and social benefits are based on the German public service wage agreement (TVöD E 13).
Applicants must hold their doctoral degree or be scheduled to receive it before the contract begins. Contracts will usually start on October 1, 2020.

We invite applicants with training and/or research experience in utilizing the novel data and methodologies from the emergent field of Computational Social Science, e.g. large-scale digital data on social behavior, social network data, data assembled from a variety of historical and contemporary sources, and data from internet experiments.
