MZES Postdoc Fellowships
by Information, Sociology
The MZES is an interdisciplinary research institute at the University of Mannheim dedicated to comparative European social research and the analysis of European integration processes. It is Germany's largest university-based social science research centre.
The Centre seeks to recruit two outstanding social scientists as Postdoctoral Fellows to work in MZES Research Areas A: 'European Societies and their Integration' or B: 'European Political Systems and their Integration'. Successful candidates are expected to publish in international scientific journals and participate in the intellectual life of the Centre. The positions begin preferably 1 March 2012 and are fully funded for two years, during which Fellows are expected to generate sufficient grant income to extend their positions.
In addition to the resources of the University, MZES supports its Postdoctoral Fellows with an annual budget for travel and research assistance, a dedicated IT department, the internal methods consulting and data unit Eurodata, an extensive Centre library, support from project management offices, and a public relations officer.
Candidates should have submitted an excellent dissertation in sociology, political science, or related discipline within the last two years. International publications are an advantage. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications and will be between 43,000 and 50,000 Euros (public sector pay scheme TV-L E13), with additional employer benefits.
