I'm in the processing of updating the "PhDs on the Market" page of the Sociology department website. If you plan to be on the job market next year, send me your info and I'll include it.
In order to get this updated prior to the ASA meetings (so that faculty can talk you up at those meetings), I'll need your information (or updates) no later than July 15, 2014.
I'll need your degree date, dissertation title/topic, committee members, research/teaching interests, e-mail address, website (if applicable), current CV, and a photo.

Instructor Opening for 2014-2015 Academic Year
The Women’s and Gender Studies Program at Boston College is looking for a scholar with a
strong background in gender to teach “Introduction to Feminisms” and the accompanying
“Colloquium: Teaching Women’s Studies” this coming academic year, beginning in the Fall of
2014 and continuing through the Spring 2015 semester. The days/times of these courses are set
and not negotiable for the Fall semester. Candidates must be able to commit to the full academic
year term.
Introduction to Feminisms SOCY2225 (ENGL2125/HIST2502)
T TH 4:30-5:20pm
Description: This course is taught by Women's Studies faculty and undergraduate student teams under
faculty direction to acquaint students with a large range of academic and life experience topics that have
been affected by Women's Studies scholarship. After a preliminary meeting, the class divides into 12-14
person seminars that meet once per week to discuss and study such issues as women's history, feminist
theory, sex roles, socialization, gender and health, religion, work, global/international issues pertaining to
gender disparity, and literature and essays by and about women. The course emphasizes participation and
collective work on projects and usually includes a continuing personal and readings-oriented journal.
Colloquium: Teaching Women’s Studies SOCY6664 (ENGL5603/HIST4456)
T 5:30-7pm
Description: This course is for the "Introduction to Feminisms" Teaching Assistants. Students meet
weekly with the faculty advisor to discuss assigned readings in further depth, as well as pedagogical
methods and approaches to leading their respective seminar groups from SOCY2225.
Requirements:
--‐ Doctoral Degree in Women’s and Gender Studies or related field; will also consider advanced
doctoral students who have completed coursework and whose area of specialization is
women’s and gender studies
--‐ Strong academic background in women’s and gender studies across disciplines with an
emphasis on the intersection of gender with race, class, sexuality, etc.; can demonstrate
scholarship/research in women’s studies
--‐ Teaching and/or mentoring experience
