• Visiting Assistant Professor of Sociology & Legal Studies Kenyon College, a highly selective, nationally ranked liberal arts college in central Ohio, invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Sociology & Legal Studies for the academic term commencing Fall 2012. This position is for a one-year sabbatical replacement. Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in sociology by Fall 2012, with prior experience teaching sociology of law and/or law in society courses. We especially welcome candidates having both a Ph.D. in sociology and a J.D. Faculty responsibilities include teaching a 3/2 course load over two semesters and informal advising of students. Courses to be taught include Introduction to Legal Studies (survey course for Law and Society concentration), Senior Seminar in Legal Studies (special topics seminar) and a course is socio-legal research methods. The two remaining courses are expected to contribute directly to the sociology curriculum though the area of specialization is open.

Job Description:
The Department of African and African Diaspora Studies invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor (tenure track) or Associate Professor (tenured), with a background in Science and Medicine within the Social Sciences and with a preference for a specialization in Africa, to start Fall 2012. We are seeking outstanding scholars with a strong background in Science and Medicine (public health, medical anthropology, pharmacy, bioethics, history of race in science and medicine) within the Social Sciences (Economics, Education, Environment, Geography, Law, Medicine, Sociology, Political Science, and Psychology), with a preference for specialists in African Studies. We are especially interested in outstanding candidates who focus on critical theories in an intersectionality of race, gender, sexuality, and social class. The selected candidate must have a Ph.D. in hand, and will be expected to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses, develop a strong research program, demonstrate evidence of successful research productivity, direct graduate research and exhibit a commitment to service to the department, college, and university. Assistant Professor applicants should be able to demonstrate a successful publishing and research trajectory. Associate Professor applicants should demonstrate an established reputation of high quality research and scholarly production. All applicants should have a solid record as an effective classroom teacher at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Salary is competitive and dependent on qualifications and experience. Fellowships for sociologists in economic sociology, inequality, the sociology of organizations, the sociology of work, and political sociology for the study of various questions related to broad-based employee stock ownership, profit sharing, and stock options, and broadened ownership of capital and economic democracy in the corporation and in the society in the United States.
Several Beyster Fellowships and Kelso Fellowships in the amount of $25,000 and $12,500 will be offered by the Rutgers University School of Management and Labor Relations to doctoral candidates, recent Ph.D. graduates and pre- and post-tenure scholars in the social sciences. Fellows may be in residence at their own University.
The deadline for application is January 31, 2012 for the 2012-2013 academic year fellowships. Decisions will be made by March 15, 2012.
