FYI, via Jason Beckfield, Sasha Killewald, and department alumnus Cat Turco:
Dear colleagues,
I hope this email finds you and your loved ones safe.
I write to announce the launch of the Cash Transfer Lab. Our mission is to build an evidence base regarding cash transfer policies like a Universal Basic Income. We answer the fundamental questions of how a Universal Basic Income policy would transform American families, communities and economies. The first major initiative is to study the effects of the permanent fund dividend (PFD), a policy in Alaska that has paid every Alaskan resident a substantial amount of cash annually since 1982. This is the closest policy in the world to a Universal Basic Income.
You can read about the Cash Transfer Lab here<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__as.nyu.edu_cash-2Dtran…>.
We are hiring a postdoctoral associate to work on causal inference modeling. This scholar will work primarily with myself and Jennifer Hill<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__steinhardt.nyu.edu_peo…>. The American Council of Learned Societies Opens 2021 Leading Edge Fellowship Competition for Recent PhDs in the Humanities and Humanistic Social Sciences
Program Partners Early Career Scholars
with Nonprofit Organizations Advancing Social Justice
The American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) announces the third competition for the Leading Edge Fellowship, made possible by the generous support of The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
The Leading Edge Fellowship program provides one-year fellowships to recent humanities PhDs as they pursue publicly engaged projects that advance social justice and equity in communities across the United States. The projects are designed to draw on the humanistic skills, capacities, and frameworks developed in the course of earning a PhD in the humanities.
In this competition, ACLS will place up to 41 recent PhDs with participating nonprofit organizations across the country including the National Conference on Citizenship, the Hurston/Wright Foundation, Hunger Free America, and Common Justice. The full roster of partnering organizations and projects is available here<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__acls.us9.list-2Dmanage…>.
ACLS is now accepting fellowship applications for this program, with applications due by 9pm EDT on Thursday, May 6, 2021.

Each Leading Edge Fellow will receive a $60,000 stipend, as well as health insurance and professional development funding. Fellows will lead substantive, community-engaged projects for their host organizations on issues of criminal justice reform and mass incarceration, racial discrimination and economic inequality, and access to childcare, food security, and voting rights. The fellows also will participate in a variety of professional development and networking activities designed to help translate the experiences of their 12-month placements into future work in the academy and beyond.
ACLS launched the Leading Edge Fellowship program in summer 2020 with the support of the Henry Luce Foundation. Information about this program's first cohorts of fellows is available here<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__acls.us9.list-2Dmanage…>.
Formed in 1919, the American Council of Learned Societies<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__acls.us9.list-2Dmanage…> (ACLS) is a nonprofit federation of 75 scholarly organizations. As the preeminent representative of American scholarship in the humanities and related social sciences, ACLS holds a core belief that knowledge is a public good. As such, ACLS strives to promote the circulation of humanistic knowledge throughout society. In addition to stewarding and representing its member organizations, ACLS employs its $140 million endowment and $35 million annual operating budget to support scholarship in the humanities and social sciences and to advocate for the centrality of the humanities in the modern world.

Subject: RE; Visiting Assistant Faculty Position in Sociology 2020-2021
FYI
Visiting Assistant Professor of Sociology
Kenyon College, a highly selective, nationally ranked liberal arts college in central Ohio, invites applications for a one-year visiting position in Sociology at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in July 2021. The successful candidate will have prior experience teaching courses in gender, education, and/or (structural) inequalities, with particular emphasis on race, class, and gender. Courses to be taught include an upper level seminar in the candidate's area of expertise and mid-level courses appropriate for sophomores and juniors. Of particular interest are candidates who can teach either or both classical and contemporary theory. We anticipate courses will be taught in person on our campus in Gambier, Ohio.
To apply, candidates should visit the online application site found at http://careers.kenyon.edu<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__careers.kenyon.edu&d=Dw…>. A complete application should include 1) a cover letter that articulates the applicant's teaching philosophy as well as why teaching at Kenyon is a good fit for the candidate, how their research will enhance theoretical and methodological discourse in the context of a liberal arts college, and how the candidate will contribute to promoting a culturally and intellectually diverse and inclusive educational environment. More specifically, we would like to know how each candidate addresses questions of diversity and inclusion in their pedagogy or research. We are also interested in learning about past experience in teaching, or otherwise working with, diverse student populations. 2) a current curriculum vitae, 3) names, titles, and contact information for three references. Letters of reference will be requested from the three persons for whom contact information is provided. Review of applications will begin immediately. Applicants submitting all of their materials by March 14, 2021, are assured of full consideration. All phases of the search will be conducted remotely.
Hi all,
Holy Cross is hiring.
