FYI
Hi there,
I am currently looking for two post-docs to join me on the below project here at the University of Oxford. Would you mind forwarding this to your postgraduates/PhD students who might be finishing soon and looking for a post-doctoral opportunity?
Thanks and best wishes, Melissa
Post-doc researchers – Gender variance (2 posts) – University of Oxford
There are two posts available, one fixed-term for 28 months and the other fixed-term for 19 months. Please see the job description for the duties for each post: http://bit.ly/2qwGaQQ<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__bit.ly_2qwGaQQ&d=DwMFAg…>
The posts are available part-time, at 80% FTE, from 1 March 2019.
The Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences is seeking 2 postdoctoral qualitative researchers to work on a new study led by Dr Melissa Stepney and members of the Health Experiences Research Group (HERG). These new posts have arisen through funding by the National Institute for Health Research HS&DR programme awarded to Dr Stepney. The project aims to improve the care and support for trans & gender diverse young people and their families.
The postholders will conduct and analyse qualitative interviews with children and young adults who are trans and gender diverse; families of gender diverse children and ‘gateway’ health professionals (GPs and CAMHS professionals). This work will inform the development of two major resources for young people and families which will be published on the award-winning website healthtalk.org.
You will be a qualitative social scientist with experience of collecting data through interviews, preferably in a health setting, and using theory-driven approaches to analysis. You will have particular experience of interviewing young people and/or experience of researching sensitive topics. Experience and/or knowledge of LGBTQ+ (specifically trans and gender diverse) issues would be a distinct advantage.

As you may have seen by now, via social media, we’ve had an exciting development at the Stone Center<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.gc.cuny.edu_stonec…>!
This past week, the Stone Center opened applications for a new postdoctoral scholars program<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.gc.cuny.edu_News_A…> that will support two scholars beginning in the 2019-2020 academic year and two beginning in the 2020-2021 year. This program was made possible by a generous gift<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.gc.cuny.edu_News_A…> of $1.2 million from the James M. and Cathleen D. Stone Foundation.
Our new program will enable each of these four postdocs to spend two years carrying out empirical research on topics such as earnings, income, and wealth inequality. One position is reserved for a scholar whose research focuses on high-end wealth. For a second position, the Stone Center will give priority to applicants whose work investigates aspects of wealth at any point of the wealth distribution. The remaining positions will be awarded to scholars researching other areas of socio-economic inequality. We welcome applicants from economics, sociology, political science, public policy, and other disciplines.
Postdocs will divide their time between their own research projects, collaborations with senior scholars associated with the Stone Center, and contributions to public learning through lectures, writing, and other forms of outreach to diverse audiences and scholars in the field. A key feature of the program is the option to spend the second year in an applied setting. Placements will be available in policy settings such as congressional offices, nonprofit research institutions, and policy think tanks. Each postdoc will receive an annual salary of $87,000, plus benefits including health insurance, funding to hire CUNY Graduate Center students as research assistants, and additional support to help offset the costs of hardware and software, books and journals, and travel.
Applications for the first two positions, now online, are due January 15. To apply for the postdoc position focused on high-end wealth, see here<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__cuny.jobs_new-2Dyork-2…>. To apply for the position focused on other areas of socio-economic inequality, see here<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__cuny.jobs_new-2Dyork-2…>.
Please alert potential applicants – either individually or, more widely, via social media, websites, and/or newsletters.
Best wishes, thank you,
