Postdoctoral Research Fellowships at the Institute for Social Science Research, The University of Queensland, Australia.
The Institute for Social Science Research (ISSR) invites applications for a number of Postdoctoral Research Fellowships in 2012, to be awarded to early career researchers wishing to conduct full-time research. The Institute is particularly interested in applicants with a PhD in a social science discipline to undertake quantitative research in any of the following areas:
* Education
* Environment and Sustainability
* Families and the Lifecourse
* Housing Studies
* Policing and Crime
* Social Aspects of Climate Change
* Social Aspects of Health
* Social Statistics and Research Methods
* Social Wellbeing and Quality of Life
* Stratification and Inequality
* Work and Employment
To be eligible, an applicant must not have had more than five years full-time professional research experience or equivalent part-time experience since the award of a PhD, as at 30 June 2011. The selection process will also consider the alignment of the proposed research with areas of existing research strength, or research areas that UQ Faculties/Institutes wish to develop as strategic priorities.
The period of appointment will be for three years and appointees are expected to commence in early 2012. The current salary range for the award is A$76,592.18 - $85,351.16 p.a., comprising a base salary of A$65,463.41 - $72,949.71, plus 17% superannuation. Each appointee will be entitled to research support funds of A$20,000 over the term of the Fellowship to support research costs. Appointees relocating from interstate or overseas will be entitled to reimbursement of travel and relocation costs.

All Categories Art Business/ management Curriculum and instruction Design/ graphic arts Economics Film/ video Labor/ industrial relations Music Performing arts Public administration/ policy Sociology Employment Status: Full-time Salary: Competitive The Curb Center for Art, Enterprise and Public Policy at Vanderbilt is looking for a postdoctoral research associate to work on a national research project investigating the education, careers, and lives of art school graduates in the U.S. SNAAP - The Strategic National Arts Alumni Project - is the largest and most comprehensive data collection effort ever mounted to investigate artistic careers and the impact of training in visual art, design, theater, music, dance, architecture, and literature. A consortium of foundations, universities, and the federal government supports SNAAP. Indiana University's Center for Postsecondary Research and Vanderbilt's Curb Center for Art, Enterprise and Public Policy are the principal institutional collaborators.
We seek to fill the 2-year position in the next 6 months. The fellow will work directly with SNAAP's senior research director, Steven J. Tepper, assistant professor of sociology and associate director of the Curb Center for Art, Enterprise and Public Policy at Vanderbilt. The fellow will conduct primary analysis on data collected from over 20,000 former art students in the U.S. The fellow will be expected to produce both policy reports as well as scholarly articles. The fellow will also be responsible for helping to organize a national conference in 2012 and will be a primary editor of a national report, loosely entitled, "Training and Preparing Artists and Creative Workers in the 21st Century."
We invite applications from qualified candidates who have received a doctoral degree in any relevant discipline, including but not limited to sociology, economics, public policy, and education leadership and policy. The candidate should have a strong research background, training in quantitative and qualitative methods, familiarity with large data sets, the ability to work independently and part of a collaborative team.
Compensation will be based on a 12-month salary and will be competitive based on experience. Preference will be given to candidates willing to relocate to Nashville; in some circumstances we would consider allowing the candidate to be located elsewhere.
