The Department of Sociology at Stockholm University is one of the leading departments of
sociology in Scandinavia. It has a strong international research profile, and the department is
particularly strong in the fields of social stratification, demography, political sociology, social
networks and ethnic relations. The department has a long tradition of using quantitative
methods at a very high international level. The department has a long tradition of developing
middle-range theorizing, and of bridging theory and empirical analyses. The department has
about 85 employees, of whom eleven are professors.
Job Description
While at the Stockholm University the postdoc is expected to do research aimed at
publications in leading journals and/or with leading presses, to participate in the departments
seminars, and in other ways to contribute actively to the research environment at the
department. All senior researchers at the department participate, to some extent, in teaching
assignments.
Qualifications
The applicant should have a Phd degree in sociology not older than three years.
Term of employment
Two-year post doc position. Envisioned starting date is November 2011 (although this can be
negotiated)

NOTICE OF TENURE-TRACK POSITION IN SOCIOLOGY
POSITION: Assistant Professor of Sociology in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Social Work, tenure-eligible.
BEGINNING DATE: Late August 2012
QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. is required by September 1, 2012. The successful candidate should demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and to maintaining an active scholarly agenda. Specialization in social statistics and research methods is preferred. Other areas are open. We seek a teacher-scholar who is well versed in the fundamentals of the discipline, and is interested in inclusive and innovative pedagogy. The sociology program consists of three full-time faculty and seeks to offer students a broad-based curriculum by faculty with diverse research interests.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Full-time teaching load: 6 courses divided over fall, January and spring terms. Teaching load will include Research Methods, Social Statistics, Introduction to Sociology, electives that complement existing offerings, as well as contributions to the interdisciplinary programs of the college. Additional duties include advising and committee work.
SALARY: Commensurate with academic qualifications and professional experience.

Junior Professorship in Management with a Focus on Organizational Theory
The successful applicant will be required to conduct research and teach in the area named above.
Appointment requirements are governed by article 102a of the Berlin Higher Education Act (Berliner Hochschulgesetz).
The appointee will have an outstanding track record of organizational research and teaching, preferably with an internationally and social-science-oriented component. Applicants are expected to have experience with empirical approaches to organizational theory as well as sponsored research.
The successful candidate will be required to teach basic courses in business administration as well as the abovementioned area of specialization. She or he is expected to become actively involved within the Department's bachelor's, master's and Ph.D. programs as well as the Pfadkolleg Research Center, and to be capable of teaching courses in English.
The junior professor will be appointed as a civil servant for an initial duration of three years. Provided that her or his performance is thereafter evaluated positively, employment may be extended for three more years.
