Salary will be on the Grade 7 salary scale, in the range of £30,424 to £36,298 per annum plus £2,323 London Allowance per annum.
The appointment is full-time and is available from 1 April 2013 for three years in the first instance.

This post represents an exciting opportunity for a survey manager wishing to play a key role in the next stage of the world renowned Millennium Cohort Study (MCS). The MCS is a nationally representative survey of over 19,000 children born in 2000-2001, who are followed over time and have been visited at ages 9 months, 3, 5, 7 and 11 years.
You will be part of the team that develops and implements the 6th, Age 14 sweep.
Working closely with the rest of the MCS team and the fieldwork contractor, you will help ensure that the survey is delivered to a high standard, with high rates of participation across the multiple instruments that make up this complex, home-based survey.
You will have experience of large scale surveys, and an understanding of the particular issues involved in engaging and surveying young people. The ability to manage multiple tasks and to work independently as well as part of a team are important aspects of the post, as is the ability to liaise with the fieldwork organisation and to communicate clearly with both cohort members and their parents, as well as academic and non-academic users of the study.

Research position in urban studies

Job description
Within the research Department GEODE the candidate will participate in research on mobility behaviours. S/he is expected to contribute to the CURHA project (an international consortium which will collect and analyse detailed data on daily mobility and health outcomes among older adults in contrasted urban settings in Montreal, Paris and Luxembourg) and to other ongoing research projects within the Department, especially in the Cross-border Local Mobility Unit.
Requirements
The candidate holds a doctorate in urban studies (quantitative geography, spatial analysis, sociology, statistics or economics) and has a post-doctoral experience of 2 to 3 years. The topics of interest are mobility behaviours, health, survey design and elderly. S/he is familiar with the handling and the analysis of surveys (i.e., discrete choice models) and has valuable experience in spatial analysis and GIS (e.g., Arc GIS). Practicing statistical tools (e.g., SAS, SPSS, Stata) will be an asset. Candidate must be fluent in English, French language skills are a real asset.
Finally, the candidate must be a team player and able to develop independent research activities within the GEODE research unit.
