Population Research in LGBT Health*
The Fenway Institute (TFI) of Fenway Health in Boston
The post-doctoral fellow’s primary duties are to teach and assist with
the Center for Population Research in LGBT Health’s Summer Institute
Program. Information about the Summer Institute can be found here:

The post-doctoral fellow will reside at TFI and will join an
interdisciplinary community of scholars and investigators. S/he
will pursue a productive research program, will teach in the LGBT Pop
Center’s Summer Institute in LGBT Population Health, will supervise and
instruct graduate students in the Summer Institute’s data lab, and will
assist in administering the Summer Institute program. The fellow will be
encouraged to develop research collaborations with TFI investigators and
to engage in research projects using Fenway Health’s electronic medical
record data.

The Brandeis Sociology Department is looking for an instructor to teach
an undergraduate course, Media and Globalization (Soc. 120b), during
the Fall 2010 semester. The course will meet Mondays & Wednesdays from
5:10-6:30 PM. The course description is as follows:
Investigates the phenomenon of globalization as it relates to mass
media. Topics addressed include the growth of transnational media
organizations, the creation of audiences that transcend territorial
groupings, the hybridization of cultural styles, and the consequences
for local identities.

FELLOWSHIPS AVAILABLE
The Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University awards
approximately 40 fully funded fellowships each year. Radcliffe Institute
fellowships are designed to support scholars, scientists, artists and
writers of exceptional promise and demonstrated accomplishment, who wish
to pursue work in academic and professional fields and in the creative
arts. Applicants must have received their doctorate or appropriate
terminal degree by December 2009 in the area of the proposed project.
The stipend amount is $65,000. Fellows receive office space and access
to libraries and other resources of Harvard University. During the
fellowship year, which extends from early September 2011 through May 31,
2012, residence in the Boston area is required as is participation in
the Institute community. Fellows are expected to present their
work-in-progress and to attend other fellows' events.

The Harvard College Writing Program at Harvard University hires several
preceptors each year from a variety of disciplines. Each preceptor
develops a writing course on an academic topic, and can teach up to two
sections per semester of fifteen students per section.
Salary and benefits are competitive. Preceptors are given multi-year
contracts and can serve for up to eight years if they meet FAS
eligibility requirements. Preference will be given to candidates with
Ph.D.s in academic disciplines that are taught at Harvard College; who
have college teaching experience; and who demonstrate a lively interest
in issues of writing pedagogy.

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign: The Sociology Department of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for two non-tenure appointments as Visiting Assistant Professor, Visiting Lecturer or Visiting Instructor to begin August 16, 2010. Both positions are one-year appointments, renewable on an annual basis by mutual agreement of the Department and the Visiting Assistant Professors. The course load for both positions is 3 and 3 and would include both small and large enrollment courses in social theory, research methods, and globalization and/or transnational sociology.
