looking for Master's and PhD qualified Social Scientists to work alongside
the military to help identify cultural differences. The ultimate goal is to
reduce violence and create more peaceful interaction while we spend time in
other countries. The current country of interest is Afghanistan, and the
job would involve working out of a military base in country. I have

. Social Scientist 2 - Requires a Master's Degree in a Social
Science field with a minimum of 1 year of paid research experience (post
graduate). Pay while in the United States is $68,809. While in Afghanistan
the salary would be $116,975.
. Social Scientist 1 - Requires a PhD and more than 1 year of paid
research experience (post graduate). Pay while in the United States is
$96,690. While in Afghanistan the salary would be $164,373.
All candidates must be able to pass medical requirements for deployment and
have the ability to obtain a United States Security clearance.

Adams State College. The Department of Sociology invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position to begin Fall Semester, 2012 (August 18, 2012). While a PhD in Sociology is preferred, consideration will be given to advanced ABDs. The department seeks a broadly trained sociologist with strong focus on teaching and who shares our dedication to excellence in the classroom. Special consideration will be given to candidates who demonstrate teaching experience or interest in the following courses: criminology, corrections, juvenile delinquency, race, class & gender, and social deviance. The teaching load is four courses per semester (12 credit hours). The salary is $42,000 to $45,000 depending on qualifications and experience. Applicants should send a detailed letter of application addressing their teaching interests/experience as well as their professional interests and goals. Applicants should also indicate how teaching at a small, Hispanic Serving Institution with a sizeable population of first generation college students set in a rural environment aligns with their teaching interests/ experience and professional goals. The University of Akron Assistant Professor – Medical Sociology
The Department of Sociology at The University of Akron invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position to begin August 2012. The department seeks candidates who will contribute to graduate training in the area of medical sociology and who can demonstrate potential for, or evidence of, active involvement in research, including applying for grants and publishing.
Applicants with research interests in the department's other areas of emphasis (mental health, social psychology, social inequalities), or who are able to teach research methods and/or statistics at the graduate level, should note this in letters of application.
Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in Sociology by the time of appointment.
If hired, responsibilities include conducting and publishing research, applying for external grants, professional service, and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate will also demonstrate an interest in research collaborations with the university's Institute for Bioscience and Social Research.
