The Human Exploitation and Resilience Initiative invites applications for a Senior Researcher at the NYU Marron Institute starting in Fall 2022. The Senior Researcher position is focused on project management, qualitative and quantitative data collection methods and writing, so candidates with expertise in project management, quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, survey development and administration, interviews and focus groups with vulnerable populations and writing policy briefs, technical reports and journal publications are particularly encouraged to apply. This is a two-year position with the possibility of extension and includes a competitive salary and benefits package.
About the Human Exploitation and Resilience Initiative (HERI). Led by Research Professor Meredith Dank, HERI research primarily focuses on both US-based and international forced labor and human trafficking, in addition to other types of gender-based violence. There are currently several projects at HERI that are funded by the Department of State, the National Institute of Justice, National Science Foundation, in addition to private foundations. The Senior Researcher will have an opportunity to work across several projects and assist the research team in providing new insight, knowledge, and opportunities for action. The positioning of the Senior Researcher position at the Marron Institute ensures that impact-driven projects are balanced with fundamental research advanced through widely-disseminated research that is transparent and reproducible. The Senior Researcher can expect to:
* Work on several research projects as part of the HERI research team, including State Department funded projects focused on measuring the prevalence of forced labor in Costa Rica and Tanzania and India, and NIJ funded studies on child labor and labor trafficking in the U.S.
* Oversee project management and assistant researchers, co-lead project and proposal development, assist with quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, co-lead and assist with writing final deliverables, and determine new and innovative ways to disseminate research findings.
* Contribute to conference and journal publications.
Qualifications
Minimum Required Qualifications:
* PhD in sociology, criminology, anthropology, public health, social work or a highly related field
* Demonstrated knowledge of the field of human trafficking, forced labor, gender based violence (or a closely related field)
* Proficiency in data management and project management
* Experience monitoring and evaluating intervention programs, especially related to gender based violence and trafficking
* Past field research experience focused on vulnerable populations, particularly survey administration
* Proficient in R, NVivo, Excel, and project management software (e.g. airtable)
* Highly organized and detail oriented
Preferred Qualifications
* Native fluency (written and oral) in both English and Spanish
* Experience writing federal and/or foundation grant proposals
* Successful history of scholarly dissemination efforts as evidenced by at least one first-author peer-reviewed journal article

Application for Postdoctoral Research Associate
The Department of Sociology at Princeton University seeks applicants for a postdoctoral or more senior research associate in the Eviction Lab. Successful candidates will have a Ph.D., and a background in sociology, statistics, data science, economics, computer science, and/or quantitative social science. This is a one-year term position with the possibility of renewal for a second year based on funding and satisfactory performance.
The Eviction Lab at Princeton University is an interdisciplinary and multi-generational research team who has built the first-ever national database of evictions in America. We have validated, mapped, and published our data through an interactive website (evictionlab.org<http://evictionlab.org/>). The Eviction Lab is currently working on a number of studies on the prevalence, causes, and consequences of housing displacement. Postdoctoral researchers will have access to novel and very large datasets not publicly released. The Eviction Lab is engaged in multiple long-term initiatives, including a Joint Statistical Project with the U.S. Census, which has allowed linking over 80 million eviction records with administrative databases and restricted-use files of the American Housing Survey.
We seek self-driven, creative thinkers with strong quantitative skills to work with a team of researchers to analyze large administrative data sets and coauthor papers reporting findings on housing instability, urban inequality, and public policy. Successful candidates will be comfortable with management of large datasets and advanced statistical modeling or computer programming skills. Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated experience with causal methods for observational data, Bayesian hierarchical and spatial modeling, and/or machine learning. Previous experience working in a research team or lab is a plus. A working knowledge of the literature on housing instability and urban sociology is not required but useful; an intellectual interest in applying rigorous analysis techniques data to real-world problems is essential. Salary is competitive and is benefits eligible.

My department is recruiting a tenure-track position in sociology with specialization in race, family, and/or gender. This job would be a great fit for someone who enjoys teaching, especially undergraduates, as that is truly valued. We live up to supporting it with most classes being under 25 students (our typical cap is actually 19) and scheduling that almost always keeps number of preps limited. Tenure-track faculty have a 3-3 load, which is lower than many public teaching-intensive universities (at least when I was on the market myself). There is also still strong support for research and a very collegial faculty; our department in particular has a really supportive and friendly atmosphere.
Christopher Newport University is public, but is small and prides itself on providing a liberal arts environment with close contact between faculty and our mostly-undergrad student population. Newport News is a city on the James River in coastal Virginia, close to Williamsburg, Norfolk, and Richmond.
