FYI
Dear friends and colleagues,
I am reaching out with information on a pair of new post-doctoral position in the lab I direct, the Polarization and Social Change Lab<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.pascl.stanford.edu…>. More info on each position below. Please share widely and forward to anyone who you think might be a good fit for either position! Thank you!
(Questions? Please get in touch with Chrystal Redekopp: redekopp(a)stanford.edu<mailto:redekopp@stanford.edu>)
Postdoctoral Scholar:
The Postdoctoral Scholar will be responsible for co-designing and leading research projects in one or more of the following substantive areas: political persuasion, views of inequality, polarization, messaging, social movement mobilization, climate change attitudes, public opinion regarding major social problems, and online political behavior. Expertise in any of a range of quantitative research methods is valued, with a particular emphasis on field experiments, large-scale survey experiments testing many interventions in parallel, and various computational methods (e.g., text analysis, social network analysis). For more information on this position, please see here: https://tinyurl.com/4nnrzab3<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__tinyurl.com_4nnrzab3&d…>.
Research Scholar:
The Research Scholar position is not a typical post-doc. The best fit applicant would be someone who is interested in doing research full time as a long-term lab affiliated scholar, rather than pursuing a tenure-track position (though we are potentially open to very qualified applicants who still hope to pursue a tenure track position after 2-3 years).
The position's core responsibilities will include co-authoring papers, grant proposal writing, editing the writing of postdoctoral fellows and graduate students, and outreach to external organizations to drive impactful application of findings. Additional responsibilities may include but are not limited to: developing field experiments with partner organizations, helping with organizing convenings, managing research projects, and designing/editing stimuli for studies. More information can be found at the following link: https://tinyurl.com/ysv3kp63<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__tinyurl.com_ysv3kp63&d…>.
Please also note that we are open to scholars with a wide range of skills and would potentially tailor the position to the skills of a highly qualified applicant. Thus, scholars with experience designing, analyzing, and publishing research related to our lab's areas of interest would be attractive candidates, as would scholars with experience with field or survey experiments. But also, scholars with experience brokering relationships with outside organizations, interacting with policymakers, and/or interacting with foundations and potential donors could be very competitive.
Our lab is a supportive and diverse community of scholars. We encourage a culture of rigor, discovery, fun, and solidarity. We aspire to do work that can have meaningful social impact. We are very excited to recruit new folks who can expand our knowledge and expertise!
THANK YOU!!
